I'm back. Had a whole week off running; off everything in fact. Not one single act of exertion took place last week, unfortunately.

I want to train for another race now.

Tried to enter the Great South Run in October, which is a very popular 10 mile road run, but it was full. So have entered a 10k instead, on Sunday 3rd September in Littlehampton. G is going to do it too, and I think I might even be able to persuade Spock to take part as well.

Went to the gym on Monday night for first session and run since the marathon. (Krzys is coaching me long-distance style; he's done about a billion 10ks I think. He has also given me a very scary target time of 63:30 for some reason). I ran four miles on the treadmill followed by some short sprints. When I woke up on Monday morning, I had a really tight, sharp pain in my left calf. It felt really tender when I lifted my foot up, with my heel still on the ground. My legs also just felt very heavy in general. I found this run, despite doing it really slowly, quite difficult. Probably because I hadn't done anything for a week, but even so, I struggled with it. Not in an endurance way - my heart rate was fine. But my legs felt like dead weights.

Monday:
15 mins cross trainer.
4 mile run + 4 x 25 second sprints
15 mins power plate

Didn't run tonight as still had the pain in left calf. But couldn't resist doing the sprints. Will do next proper session on Friday. Tried to do some weights at the gym. Haven't really done any for a couple of months as the marathon training took up so much time. God, what a weed. Had to drop everything down by about 10/15kg from where I was before.

Wednesday
15 mins cross trainer
20 mins uphill walking incline 12 + 6 x sprints
30 mins weights
